About Lake Weed Harvesters

The entire line was engineered and developed over 30 years ago by a Dredging Company of Wisconsin. The owner simply could not find anybody in the industry who would sell him a quality product built the way he wanted. It needed to be tough, have a low cost-per-hour operation and have a long life in use. It had to be able to go out into a hostile weed choked environment and perform flawlessly not just cutting one type of aquatic weed but cut all types! It had to be durable... so quality of design, quality of materials, quality of construction and the best technology available in the industry had to be used. Cost was NOT the object, a quality product is. If an improvement came along..It had to be immediately implemented into the manufacturing..so development was a continual process and still is! Inland Dredging exists today and the owner and his family still maintain that high degree of engineering and high degree of quality from a product they use. They are now second generation in employment with the patriarch and matriarch of the family still very much in control.

The Design

The design of the Lake Weed Harvester by itself is in many ways different from all the others.

The cutter head is mounted on the Number 1 Conveyor like all harvesters. Underwater obstacles are a hazard of this business. Lake Weed Harvester is the only Harvester in production with their own Pivot Swing Arm Suspension that is a SOFT TOUCH REPULSION METHOD of contact to underwater obstacles with minimal impact pressure to the cutter head. It uses the Newton Principle " for every action there is an equal but opposite reaction". The other manufacturers use a spring loaded Number 1 conveyor with the cutter head attached that is hard point mounted to the barge hull. This is an high impact push off repel system. We do not break or bend our cutter heads on our harvesters.

Inland's use of 1 1/2 inch (3.09 cm) diameter bearings on conveyors insures long life and trouble free service. In addition they use all stainless steel in manufacturing the adjusters thus eliminating failure due to rust and corrosion.

The control system on Inland equipment is ALL HYDRAULIC with lever activation. NO electric over hydraulic or cable over hydraulic. All implement control levers are direct hydraulic and are ergonomically placed on the bridge for maximum operator control and minimum operator effort. The bridge deck is kept 100% clear of all obstruction. That is our primary saftey concern.

All our units are full barge hull construction. Inland has the most air tight hull compartments per square foot than any other barge manufacturer. What does this mean to you the customer? It means concern for superior safety is in the hulls design along with maximum strength in our hull.
